What you do is you enter some (fairly generic) personal information, and it generates your own personal bar code, complete with explanation. Then, there’s an option to scan the bar code, which will tell you what you’re worth. Feel free to leave me a comment with your worth, so I don’t feel cheap.

Just….just….SQUEE!!!

On top of the assignment itself being challenging, we’re expected to do a whole bunch of things here that I’ve never done before just for the sake of doing them. Learning how to create a makefile, accept comand line parameters, and compile a single program from multiple files is practically an assignment in and of itself.

I have another week yet to get this done, but I can already tell it’s going to be tight. So if anyone would like to volunteer to kill me this evening and put me out of my misery, that would be greatly appreciated.

 Maybe I just need a fancy helmet like this.

While many of the prizes seem to hardly qualify as “dreams” (free churros, mouse ears, and ice cream sandwitches),  some of them are truly the coolest darn things I’ve ever heard of. At the Magic Kingdom in Florida they are building a suite in Cinderella Castle, and every once in a while a lucky family will get to stay the night inside. Even better than this though, was one of the first prizes to be awarded. A family of four was given the chance to have the Magic Kingdom to themselves for the morning. They walk in, following a red carpet down the center of Main Street, with the air still and eerily quiet. Then, as they pose for the cameras and wave, thousands of cast members and costume characters pour out of the shops lining the street to greet them. Disney, of course, put together a reel of footage for the media. Be sure to check out the B Roll in the sidebar. I know it’s all put together to look good on film, but I can’t help but think how amazing of a day this family must have had.

Needless to say it creeped me out a bit. Watching a young girl talk and act like an insane 45 year old is disconcerting to say the least. But, at the same time, I spend a good part of the movie not being sure who I wanted to come out on top. I know this is odd in a movie about a child molester, but the girl is every bit as messed up as he is. She does end up having her motives for doing what she does to him, but. . .well, just no.

So, the movie’s worth a watch if you’re female. If you’re male, I’d think twice, just because that one scene is too painful for words.

As a part of all this, the design team (led by John Lasseter of Pixar) has decided that they are going to remove Muppet Vision 3-D and put in Philharmagic. Now, I love the Muppets.  They were a super important part of my childhood. While part of me is sad that they’re getting their real estate pulled out from underneath them, I understand why. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone walk into their attraction in the last, oh, dozen visits I’ve made to the park. Myself included. Philharmagic is such a nice attraction, and it seems like it will easily fit right in with the less modern version of Hollywood Blvd. they plan on changing that section of the park into.

I say it’s time to make a trip to the park when it goes in. Any takers?

This clip is the best one I’ve seen. It’s got two, count ‘em two switches, a dance number, and singing penguin. So awesome. It makes me feel better just thinking about it.

“I’m aware that most young people do experiment with sex,” Burnette acknowledges, “but when you print it on a university campus, you’re just opening the doors to so much more.” She says college students already have enough issues to deal with. “They don’t need the pressures of sex involved; they need to concentrate on education,” she says. “I mean, there’s too much sex in today’s world anyway. That’s not what life is all about.”

Oh, so sex isn’t what life’s about? Makes me wonder how this chick got here in the first place then. Must be aliens. And frankly, you get a bunch of young people living together in tiny bedrooms where they are mostly unsupervised for the first time in their lives, there’s going to be the pressure of sex involved. There can’t be that many pheromones in the air without something steamy happening.

Anyway, I thought it was funny. Just my two cents.

With all that star power, plus a plot that features lots of sex, drug use, and violence, you’d think it’d be a great movie, right? Well, it was. Until the alien showed up.

Yes, that’s right, a movie with a cast this interesting felt it had to resort to alien abduction to make the plot good. It could have been a really interesting look at the way that the decline of society’s morals will ultimately lead to the destruction of mankind. But no. The movie is just a bloody mess, both figuratively and literally. So much blood and violence.

It was incredibly stupid thing for me to watch while I’m trying to get to sleep. Yet, for some reason, I’m giving it a 6/10 on my movie page. Go figure. I think it was mostly John Ritter that did it for me. If the movie would have just ended about 30 seconds before it did, I’d be in a much better mood right now.
